Charming 19th Century French Oil on Canvas 'Bacchus the God of Wine'

A hugely entertaining French oil  on canvas depicting Bacchus clearly enjoying a glass of wine or two.' A LA GLORY  DOU VIN'. Possibly commissioned for a French tavern in the late 19th century.

The painting as been professionally re-lined to the outer edges. There are scatted areas of historic repair and remnants of old gloss which we believe only adds to its charm.
